The History of the Lie
John 8:44-45 - "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language,, for he is a liar and the father of lies.  Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!

Proverbs 23:7  "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he."

Why Belief Therapy?

People do what they do because they believe what they believe!

Belief Therapy exposes the lies a person believes, replacing them with the truth which ultimately will set them free .

Lie:     "I can't"
Truth:  "I can do all things through Him (Christ) who gives me strength."   (Phillipians. 4:13)

Lie:     "I don't have enough or I will never have anything."
Truth:  "My God shall supply all of my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Phillipians 4:19)

Lie:     "I am fearful."
Truth:  "God hath not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind"  (2 Timothy 1:7)

Lie:     "I am doubtful and don't have enough faith."
Truth:  "God hath given to every man a measure of faith."  (Romans 12:3)

Lie:     "I am weak."
Truth:  "The Lord is the strength of my life: (Psalms 27:1) and, "the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits." (Dan. 11:32)

Lie:     "I couldn't help it", or "the devil made me do it."
Truth:  "Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world."  (I John 4:4)

Lie:     "I am defeated" or "I can't win" or "I will never come out ahead."
Truth:  "God always causeth me to triumph i Christ Jesus." (2 Cor. 2:14)

Lie:     "I am not smart enough" or "I can't learn that stuff."
Truth:  "Christ Jesus is made unto me wisdom from God", (1 Cor. 1:30)

Lie:     "I am worried and frustrated."
Truth:  "Cast all your cares upon Him who careth for you." ((1 Peter 5:7)

Lie:     "I am all bound up", or "I can't forget past hurts"
Truth:  "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." (Cor. 3:17)  My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit

Notice Carefully . . .

  • Christ Introduced the Lie vs. Truth.    Jesus is TRUTH!
  • Satan cannot tell the truth.
  • A lie puts you in bondage-truth makes you free!
  • Satan's weapon of choice is the LIE.
  • A lie is as powerful as the truth . . . if you believe it.
